Event Page Redesign
in progress
Robert Szabo
Cleaner, faster admin pages for running your classes and events. Status is easy to find, each page fits on one screen, and the settings you need are in view instead of spread across tabs.
The redesign covers the three pages admins use to run a class: the class page, the cohort page and the session page.
What's built so far
* Status in the page header. See and change a class, cohort or session's status right next to Save and Publish. Finished classes are read-only, and cancelling is final.
* A session page that fits on one screen. Details sit in a main column and a side column, with a compact roster that works whether 1 or 20 people signed up.
* Session times in one row, set with a time picker.
* One ticketing card that stays put. Changing ticket settings never makes the page jump.
* A clear access summary on the session page, and class editors can fix a session's door access themselves.
* A tidier top section on the cohort page, and cancelling a cohort cancels its sessions.
* Primary buttons that are easier to read.
What's next
* The cohort page in two columns, to match the session page: a light list of sessions with each one's sign-up count, an easier-to-read attendance grid, and session numbers that follow date order.
* A default session length for each class, set with a duration picker, so new sessions start at the right length.
* A compact Add-ons tab, the cancellation and refund policy as a side card, and door access as one card with a row per door.
* A simpler class page: a header with a breadcrumb and a one-line summary of the class, and one Overview tab that shows what members see next to the class setup. Seven tabs become five.
* Class and cohort pages that show their layout right away and fill in quickly.
* The same status names everywhere across classes, cohorts and sessions.
Good to know
* This redesign covers the admin pages. The pages members book from aren't part of it.
Upvote or comment if there's a part of running a class in MakerVera that slows you down.

Update: four more pieces of the redesign are built.
* The cohort page in two columns. Sessions and attendance sit in the main column, settings in a side column. Sessions are a light list, each with its own sign-up count and numbered by date. The attendance grid names each session, marks the next one and totals check-ins. The page stays open after you save.
* A default session length for each class, picked with a duration picker or typed (like "1:30"). When you pick a new session's start, its end fills in.
* An Add-ons & policies tab. Add-ons are a compact list, and the cancellation and refund policy is a side card. Door access is one card with a row per door, edited in place.
* Faster class and cohort pages. Both show their layout right away and load in one request. Point of contact now searches people as you type, so larger spaces can pick anyone.
Still to come: the simpler class page (a header with a breadcrumb, one Overview tab, seven tabs down to five) and the same status names across classes, cohorts and sessions.
