University makerspaces want everyone with an institutional email (students, academic and administrative staff) to get access automatically, without approving each sign-up by hand. Some groups also need different rules. For example, when students graduate their email moves from name@university.edu to name@alumni.university.edu , and the makerspace may want alumni to keep an account but not book equipment. Requested: let admins set rules per email domain, such as auto-approve at sign-up and which actions (like equipment booking) are allowed for that domain.
